Our Work as Christians
Reaching out to our community and the world
"Truly, I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:40
We believe that God calls us to be a loving, caring church that leads people in growing their discipleship, discovering their God-given gifts, and learning to apply them in the community of faith by reaching out to the local and global community.

Locally:
Socktober
Each fall socks and underwear are collected and donated to local shelters and schools. A follow-up activity during the winter months called the "Mitten Tree," provides warm weather gear like mittens and hats to local schools.
Locally:
Heartland Hope Mission and HOPE Garden
Faithful Shepherd hosts the H.O.P.E. garden providing fresh produce to local food banks like the Heartland Hope Mission. Special support from the Master Gardeners of Douglas County makes the garden bloom. Monthly congregational food drives focus on the specific needs of the food bank from peanut butter to pasta.

Globally:
Wells in Africa
Here in Nebraska we often take the availability of clean water for granted but unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation impacts more than 663 million people - a large majority of them in East Africa. Over the past few years, in conjunction with Marion Medical Mission, the congregation has collected enough money to fund wells (nearly 12 in 2021 alone) for villages in Malawi, Zambia and Tanzania.
Locally:
Youth Emergency Services (YES)
Youth Emergency Services (YES) assists youth experiencing homelessness and near-homelessness by providing critically needed resources. Faithful Shepherd works with YES year round providing bus tickets, clothing and other donations to support these young people in their desire to be self-sufficient.
